Girish Pote, a former salesman with a leading apparel brand and a resident of Bhayendar , a satellite township on the outskirts of Mumbai first killed his wife and later dismembered her body. He then wrapped the parts in different plastic sheets, while he kept two of them in the refrigerator of their home, he kept the third one in his bedroom. He then called his cousin and confessed to his crime. A relative alerted the cops and got him arrested, the police said.
“The relative initially didn’t believe him but when Pote called him to meet him at a nearby garden as he wanted some money and was planning to flee ;the relative alerted two of our constables . A trap was laid and he was nabbed,” investigating officer S Pingle told. “He seems to be mentally unstable and has been changing his statement frequently. He initially claimed that he killed his wife because she wanted to move with her grandparents and he was averse to the idea, but now he claims he hasn’t killed her,” said Mr. Pingle.
Pote married Madhubanti (35) in 2011 and the two have a son from their marriage. Pote sent their child to their relative’s place. Madhubhanti held a French passport as her mother was a French national. The two had a love marriage but things started going downhill in their relationship after Madhubanti expressed her desire to move to France, the police said
