New Delhi: India celebrated its 65th Republic Day in an utmost enthusiastic environment. On account of the celebrations there were parade at Rajpath which reflected the essence of Indian culture as well as military powers. The defence and paramilitary force personnel who marched together with their best renowned machines were really an eye-catching experience to the exuberant viewers all over the world.
Before the parade, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Defence Minister A.K. Antony and the chiefs of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force laid wreaths at Amar Jawan Jyoti, paying homage to the brave sons who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.
President Pranab Mukherjee together with Prime Minister and Defence Minister then welcomed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie Abe who were the chief guests of this year’s Republic Day celebrations.
The celebrations started when the President hoisted the tricolored national flag and then the atmosphere was echoed by the rendition of the national anthem. This was followed by the regular 21-gun salute which marked the beginning of the celebrations. Among the dignitaries who witnessed the parade on Rajpath was Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
