Baghdad: Islamic State militants are said to have been launching bombs containing live scorpions among people in Iraq.
This is the latest terror weapon being used by the militants in Iraq.
A British military expert who has just returned from the war-front said that bomb like containers of the creatures are being blasted among people in towns and villages as a means to create terror.
Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, ex-head of chemical and biological weapons for the army and Nato described the act as barbarian and said that the IS have improvised corresponding devices to launch the bombs successfully.
Scorpions are creatures with poisonous tail.
They are launched a couple of miles away and when the container breaks, thousands are flung out and start crawling all around.
Some scorpions are very poisonous but the main intention of launching the same is to create fear.
The military official said that the 2ft bombs were not capable to cause any mass casualties, but enough to develop a massive “psychological impact” among people.
Mr de Bretton-Gordon of Avon Protection Systems who returned from Baghdad last week was advising the security forces.
Senior Iraqi officials have reported that the beast bombs were being used to target residential areas in the northern region of the country.
The weapon remembers the yesteryear’s scorpions enclosed pots and launched by Iraqis about thousands of years ago. ie. in 198 AD.
This was an alternative weapon of ancient Iraqis to defend themselves against the Roman invasion.
