Beijing: Malaysia Airlines said to have lost contact with one of its planes that was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. On board of the plane there were 239 passengers.
The airline sources said in a statement that flight MH370 was disappeared at 02:40 local time on Saturday (18:40 GMT on Friday).
The flight was to be landed in Beijing at 06:30 (22:30 GMT).
Malaysian Airlines is currently working with the authorities who have activated their search and rescue team to locate the aircraft.
The rescue team has been maintaining a satisfactory touch with the next-of-kin of passengers and crew.
The Boeing B777-200 aircraft was carrying 227 passengers, including two children, and 12 crew members.
In a brief press conference on Saturday, Malaysia Airlines chief executive Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said that the company has been trying to trace-out the ill-fated plane. Meanwhile they are also verifying the unconfirmed reports that the aircraft has landed at Nanming in southern China. He said that the company is very much concerned over the situation and concentrated to provide regular updates.
