Durban: South Africa confirmed a 2-0 lead in the three-match One Day International series with a convincing 134-run win over India in the second ODI at Kingsmead here Sunday.Centuries by Hashim Amla (100) and Quinton de Kock (106) assisted the hosts to score 280 for six wickets. The wet outfield forced to delay the play and restricted the match to 49 overs per side.Indian batsman once again displayed their incapability to face the pace and bounce created by the South African pacers and was bundled out for a meager 146 in 35.1 overs.Rohit Sharma (19) at least put up a brief fight while Shikhar Dhawan (0) and Virat Kohli (0) failed to withstand.
Ajinkya Rahane (8), was an unlucky man to dismiss caught behind of Morne Morkel. Umpire Richard Illingworth of England made a bad decision in this regard as the ball was absolutely away from the bat.Suresh Raina played well on these bouncy pitches and made 36 before falling to Mome Morkel.Mahendra Singh Dhoni (19), Ravindra Jadeja (26) and Ravichandran Ashwin (15) were the other contributors to the Indian innings.Dale Steyn (3 for 17), Lonwabo Tsotsobe (4 for 25), Morne Morkel (2 for 34) and Vernon Philander (1 for 20) bowled excellently displaying their talents in generating pace and bounce.Earlier, South African openers De Kock and Amla gave a splendid start to their team by a sparkling 194-run stand.Both the openers had made 152 runs for the first wicket in the first one day game with De Kock scoring 135 and Amla adding 65 runs.
In the last overs, Indian bowlers fought back and restricted the hosts to score only 86 in the final 15 overs. At this juncture they lost four wickets for just 22 runs giving India a way back into the match.Pacer Mohammad Shami was the best among the Indian bowlers’ who took three wickets for 48 run in his eight overs.
