Everyone wants to be happy in life. Achieving true happiness isn’t a one-step process. It’s an alteration of a current lifestyle; it’s trimming and removing what is bringing negativity in your life. It’s realizing the difference between what should remain in yours and what shouldn’t.
Here are a few things that you need to avoid to achieve that true happiness.
procrastination

Putting off things that you have to do once in a while is okay. But if this becomes a regular habit, then it will cause stress. Sometimes, procrastination takes place until the “last minute” before a deadline. Procrastination can take hold on any aspect of life from simple things like cleaning the house, repairing the car or important things like meeting the targets in your office, discussing a stressful issue with your spouse. You can lose precious time procrastinating and also miss out on opportunities without taking advantage of them when they were there. Most opportunities only come around once; you are never guaranteed a second chance. You can miss out on meeting targets and ruin your career. Procrastination may be symptomatic of a psychological disorder. Procrastination has been linked to a number of negative associations, such as depression, irrational behaviour, and feelings of guilt, inadequacy, low self-esteem, self-doubt, anxiety and neurological disorders such as ADHD. Others have found relationships with guilt and stress. Just as your muscles tighten when you are anxious, your ability to see the big picture of life is reduced when you procrastinate, so, you don’t see as much joy. Therefore, it is important for people whose procrastination has become chronic and is perceived to be debilitating to seek out a trained therapist or psychiatrist to see if an underlying mental health issue may be present.

Negative self-talk

Words themselves cannot change reality, but they can change how one perceives reality. Now, what happens when you speak negative words to yourself? Do you ever mess something up and say under your breath that you are stupid. Words carry energy and vibration, just like anything else, and if everybody realized how much power words actually had, they would never speak another negative word about themselves or give power to another negative thought again. When you are constantly picking out all of these things that you perceive as flaws about yourself, you tend to forget about all of the great qualities that you possess. When you are criticizing yourself, you are likely comparing yourself to others and putting them on a pedestal, inevitably placing yourself beneath them in the process. When you play the victim, you literally feel like you are a victim to your circumstances and bad or undesirable things just happen to you and it’s out of your control. When you do this, it is not uncommon to complain often and blame everyone else for how pitiful you perceive your life to be. Taking notice of what goes on in your head, and putting positive change in action, makes negative self-talk useful. Nonetheless, most people don’t recognize negative self-talk as a pointer, they feed it until it grows out of control.

Not resting your mind

Your mind is an extremely high speed, high capacity and high power ‘super computer’. There is so much information already stored and every day more is being loaded into it. It is absolutely necessary to hibernate or put this computer of the human body to sleep mode regularly. It is not only important to get 6-7 hours of good sleep every day. You can still be stressing your mind with too many things and put it out of peace. Overloading and overthinking will disrupt your peace of mind and spoil your efficiency in performing better. It is okay to think about a few extra things about your day-to day work and home. But adding too many things to your mind will stress your mind. Overload mind results in physical symptoms, like a racing heart and shortness of breath. Additionally, it might lead to insomnia, digestive problems, and other symptoms of stress that reduce your happiness.

over-thinking

Overthinking can stop you from getting the results that you want. You get lost in thinking. By overthinking things you make them more and more complicated in your mind. You can turn something fairly simple into a really complicated and big mess.Apart from these three things there are other things that you need to avoid as well to be a happy person.Don’t involve yourself in things that are irrelevant to your own life. Instead focus on yourself and how to improve your own life.Don’t set high expectations and set yourself up for failure by putting too much pressure on a person or a situation. Expectation is the root of all disappointment, which is one main reason for your unhappiness.Don’t aim for perfection in each and everything you do and in each and every person in your life. This will only make you really unhappy over a period of time. Finally, don’t neglect yourself and your needs. Doing something that is right for you, makes you feel peaceful and happy. Cut yourself some slack and enjoy small things in life as much as possible.
