South Indian  movie superstars such as Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth, Venkatesh, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Daggubati along with star actresses Radhika Sarath Kumar and Kushboo Sundar were reunited for a day featured with full of fun and frolic. As many as 32 popular actors of South Indian movies of the 1980s got together at the beachfront property of Mohanlal at the East Coast Road.

Mohanlal who played host to the evening said that they are gathered for fun talking, playing and moments recollecting from the 1980s. The reunion of super stars is referred as ’80s club’ and this is the fifth such get-together since 2009. Now this reunion has become an annual tradition and the group has grown in size. This year the get-together had a Hawaiian theme and all members were dressed in Hawaiian shirts and outfits.

It was Suhasini Mani Ratnam, who initiated the idea of a reunion. Suhasini said the responses were highly exceptional. When she brought out such an idea of reunion she was not sure whether the veteran actors and actresses would be interested to meet. But to her surprise all of them supported her idea to meet once a year.

She said that other top stars such as Kamal Haasan and Akkineni Nagarjuna have expressed their  interest in the reunion of the 80’s club members. Since they were busy, they conveyed their unavailability and expected to be present for the reunion next year. Some more actors have also expressed interest to join the 80’s club.
